General Summary of Position:
- General academic advising for students on program and general education requirements; registration matters; departmental, college, and university policies and procedures; academic success strategies; financial literacy; graduation requirements; and career options.
- Manage, advise, and provide outreach to students with academic alerts, on academic warning, students readmitting to the university, and others that may require added support and contact throughout the semester.
- Collaborate on student retention initiatives, conduct re-enrollment outreach, and deliver academic success skills presentations and workshops.
- Collaborate with the Solution Center, Career Services, Registrar's Offices, Admissions, and other campus offices to resolve barriers to success and ensure students receive timely information, support, and guidance.
- Routinely maintain and update undergraduate student records online via Salesforce CRM.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- Bachelor's Degree with experience in higher education.
- Working knowledge of Student Information Systems (SIS) and Salesforce CRM preferred.
- Working knowledge of academic support and success practices.

The Centers for Learning, Advising and Student Success (CLASS) is a centrally coordinated student academic support center and provides advising, tutoring, success coaching and a wide range of academic support services to all UMass Lowell students. The Centers for Learning offers these services on both north and south campus and has professional advisors located both centrally and within the academic colleges. The Centers for Learning is actively engaged in university-wide student success initiatives and partners with academic colleges, student affairs and other units on campus to support the retention, persistence, and graduation of all our students.
This professional academic advising position requires an advanced, developmental, proactive problem-solving approach to advisement to ensure students succeed academically and are fully engaged in their educational experience. The primary responsibilities include advising a caseload of first-time freshman and/or transfer students on program requirements and registration issues, degree planning, monitoring student progress, re-enrollment outreach, and supporting at-risk students. The position also involves assisting with the support of various activities and events promoting student engagement and community building. Participation in recruitment, outreach and orientation activities required. |
