General Summary of Position:
As a part of the Center for Biomedical and Health Research in Data Science, the Research Assistant Professor will join a team of data scientists to contribute to ongoing population-based epidemiologic research projects on cardiovascular, substance use and mental health research. Excellence in research is critical. Opportunities exist to collaborate with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Services Research & Development Service, University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and other major medical centers. The role will include developing and guiding data analyses, contributing to and leading manuscripts and new research proposals, and mentoring post-docs and graduate students.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
Education:
- PhD in Epidemiology or related field
Experience:
- Clinical and/or public health data systems and research
Skills:
- Strong statistical analysis and data programming skills using SAS, SAS/SQL, Stata MP, R
- Strong track record of first- and co-authored publications
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Additional Considerations:
- Ability to travel to off-site locations
- Experience in working with government health agencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Postdoctoral training in epidemiology or related field
- Experience with BIG health data including health insurance claims, and electronic medical records
