Academic Success Advisor in UMass Boston
The Academic Success Advisor works with targeted student populations within Pathways and Student Support programs, particularly the Student Support Services (SSS) program. Using asset-based educational, cultural, and linguistic frameworks, the Academic Success Advisor provides support to the students from their initial transition to college through graduation. The Academic Success Advisor will ensure high-quality, comprehensive advising sessions through educational approaches that promote equity, transformational practice, and academic literacies to guarantee the successful retention of the students we serve. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, working with a caseload of approximately 125- 150 students to assist them in navigating academic and non-academic issues as well as connecting them to other appropriate resources and services on campus and beyond.

Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM), the Executive Assistant (EA) to the Dean will provide advanced administrative support by performing complex, varied, and confidential administrative functions that support the College's strategic priorities. The EA will be a strong, positive, collaborative presence in the Dean's Office. The EA must have exemplary time management skills and the ability to identify and anticipate the Dean's needs. The role must interact seamlessly and with a professional demeanor across a broad range of individuals, including the Senior Leadership Team, the Science Advisory Board, departmental Faculty, staff, and others. In addition, the EA is expected to exercise professionalism and discretion in handling highly sensitive and confidential institutional information, including all matters of the Academic Master Calendar and Personnel Action Calendar and collective bargaining and grievance procedures.

The Executive Assistant I supports the social justice mission of the College by providing comprehensive, executive level, administrative support to the Dean of the College of Education. Assisting in a wide range of complex and confidential matters including overseeing the Dean's schedule, screening visitors and phone calls, reading and responding to daily emails, composing or preparing other correspondence, researching and preparing reports and presentations, and maintaining paper and electronic files. Provides similar administrative support to the Director of Development. Reports directly to the Dean of the College, with independent decision-making responsibilities, under established guidelines, particularly in the absence of the Dean.
