Standard: Monday –Friday 8:30a-5:00p (or alternative schedule approved by supervisor).

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Treasurer, and the direct supervision of the Senior Cash Manager, the Cash Management Analyst maintains the daily cash management system, assists with various projects to develop and implement policies for the University in the area of Cash Management, and maintains relationships with external financial institutions. 

Essential Functions:

As a member of the Cash Management and Banking Services team, assists with operational duties in the areas of Bank Relationships and Financial Reporting, and works continuously with the Senior Cash Manager to improve current procedures and develop new procedures aimed at improving efficiency, accuracy, timeliness, and standardization.

A. Will have primary responsibility for maintaining and reviewing drawdowns for Letters of Credit and Project Grants. 

  • Reconcile the receipt of funds and deposits; process corresponding journal entries.
  • Review and assess current LOC process and make recommendations for change.
  • Maintains internal reporting of Unclassified Cash as well access to external vendor systems in order to research incoming funds.
  1. Support Senior Cash Manager in all daily banking and cash management functions, including: monitoring bank balances; forecast daily cash position by utilizing; analysis of short-term investments; funding institutional money markets funds; process ACH and wire payments.
    • Perform bi-weekly payroll funding process including report reconciliation, bank transfers, file confirmation, direct deposit return processing, and payroll reversals.
    • Maintain records and reports pertaining to the cash management system and short-term investments including the preparation and maintenance of accounting transactions and monthly reporting.
  • Assist with the review and ongoing maintenance of cash management and banking services, as well as the implementation of new services.
  • Perform bi-weekly payroll funding process including report reconciliation, bank transfers, file confirmation, direct deposit return processing, and payroll reversals.
  • Develop strategies to optimize the cash position of the University.
  1. Monitor, analyze and report on cash flow.
    • Working collaboratively with the Financial Reporting Analyst, assist with the management, analysis reporting and investment of everyday surplus cash flow.
  • Evaluate and analyze all bank charges to ensure accuracy on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of financial records.

Other Functions:

  • Assist in the development and documentation of operating procedures for all matters related to Cash Management.
  • Assist with ongoing education of staff regarding changes in operating policies and requirements.  Provide training and technical assistance as needed.
  • Ongoing development of professional knowledge in the area of cash management processes and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):

  • Undergraduate Degree from an accredited institution in Accounting, Business or Finance.  Equivalent experience in a comparable professional business environment is acceptable.
  • Knowledge of personal computers, spreadsheet and/or database application programs.
  • Ability to work on and complete multiple projects simultaneously and independently.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting departmental and University policy and procedure.
  • Ability to always look for ways to improve current procedures and the flexibility to try and test new ideas.
  • Ability to always maintain a staff professional demeanor, make full use of working hours, and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other University personnel, and outside contacts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience):

  • Reconciliation experience is preferred.
  • PeopleSoft experience is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Primary work location is Shrewsbury, MA however; travel to all campuses may be required.
  • Typical office environment.

Additional Details:

  • This is a full time benefited position
  • The salary range for this position is $40,000 - $45,000
  • No relocation assistance provided
